I’m Margy
Born in the picturesque town of Tapanui on New Zealand’s South Island in 1958, Margaret Heron, lovingly referred to as Margy, was nurtured by her English parents.
Eventually, she embarked on a new chapter, migrating to Australia with her husband and settling on the sunny shores of Port Stephens, New South Wales, where they raised their four children.
With a deep-rooted passion for oil painting, Margy not only indulges in her artistic pursuits but also shares her expertise through teaching art.
ART WORKS
Margy finds delight in capturing the intricate beauty of flowers and the soulful essence of portraiture. The opportunity to create meaningful works that deeply touch others, whether reflecting their journeys, dreams, beloved pets, or cherished places, fills her with joy. Sharing her own journey and dreams resonates profoundly with those undergoing similar stages in life.
ARTIST’S BIO
Margy Hardy, born in 1958 as Margaret Heron (fondly known as Margy), entered this world in the charming town of Tapanui on the South Island of New Zealand. Her father, a doctor, soon relocated the family to Auckland, where Margy spent her formative years amidst the stunning mountain ranges and lush rainforests of West Auckland.
Immersed in such awe-inspiring surroundings, Margy developed a profound appreciation for the intricate beauty of nature. From delicate butterflies to majestic creatures and the vast expanse of the sky, she recognized the hand of a wise and loving Creator who had fashioned this magnificent world for humanity’s enjoyment. From a young age, her faith in Jesus blossomed, intertwining with her artistic talent as a gift to glorify Him and bring joy to others.
Tragedy struck when Margy was just 11 years old, as her mother met with a fatal car accident, leaving behind profound sadness and grief. Yet, from this dark chapter emerged a wellspring of compassion and understanding. Excelling in art throughout her schooling, Margy briefly pursued studies at Auckland Technical College before embarking on a journey of marriage and motherhood with an extraordinary partner.
In 1990, Margy and her family embarked on a new chapter, migrating to Australia. It was there that she enrolled in painting courses at Newcastle Art School, immersing herself in her passion for three fruitful years. Following the birth of her fourth child, Margy delved into a three-year signwriting course, followed by two years studying ceramics, before finding her way back to painting—the art form that ignited her soul.
Over the past two decades, Margy has focused wholeheartedly on painting, creating masterpieces that transcend borders. She had the privilege of adorning walls with artistic murals in Indonesia, while her artwork has been exhibited in Portugal, Scotland, Florida (USA), New Zealand, and Australia.
Among the myriad mediums at her disposal, oils hold a special place in Margy’s heart. Pencil, pen and ink, pastel, acrylic, and watercolour have all served as conduits for her artistic expression. Currently, Margy finds delight in capturing the intricate beauty of flowers and the soulful essence of portraiture. The opportunity to create meaningful works that deeply touch others, whether reflecting their journeys, dreams, beloved pets, or cherished places, fills her with joy. Sharing her own journey and dreams resonates profoundly with those undergoing similar stages in life.
Now, in this phase of her life, Margy revels in the immeasurable blessing of an expanding family. Alongside her four wonderful adult children, she has gained three remarkable members through their marriages—a testament to the boundless joy and fulfillment family brings. Adding to the tapestry of love, Margy’s heart is enriched by three beautiful grandchildren, showering her existence with abundant blessings beyond measure.
